Hey there!
Let’s talk about something we all struggle with: comparison. When you’re building a small business, it’s almost second nature to look around and wonder if you’re measuring up. Trust me, I’ve been there. There’s always another brand or business that seems to be doing better, growing faster, or getting more attention, and it’s so easy to feel like you’re falling behind. But here’s the truth—no one knows what your journey looks like besides you.
Starting XIPAIA has been an incredible adventure, but it hasn’t been easy. There are days when it feels like every other business is miles ahead, while I’m here putting in the work, step by step. I’ve realized, though, that comparing myself to others only distracts me from what matters: my own progress. We never truly know what’s happening behind the scenes for others. Every business, big or small, has its own challenges, obstacles, and unique path. So why waste energy comparing?
The only person I want to be better than is the person I was yesterday. That’s the kind of comparison that actually helps you grow. Instead of focusing on what others are doing, I focus on my own progress. I look at the data, track how XIPAIA has grown over time, and celebrate those small wins. Did we improve sales this month compared to last month? Have I found more efficient ways to create or curate pieces? Am I making better decisions today than I did a few months ago? These are the questions that keep me moving forward.
Remember, comparing your progress to others can cloud your vision. You might overlook your achievements and all the hard work you’ve put in just because you’re so focused on someone else’s success. Don’t let that happen. Instead, take time to check in with yourself, celebrate your progress, and acknowledge how far you’ve come. Every step you take, no matter how small, is a part of your unique journey.
So, if you’re ever feeling like you’re not measuring up, remember that your only competition is yourself. Focus on your own journey, set personal goals, and work toward being better today than you were yesterday. Growth takes time, and every bit of progress counts. Trust your path, trust your process, and keep moving forward. The only business you should be comparing yourself to is your own. ✨
